From little things, big things grow

It starts in a candy pink karaoke room, glittering with coloured lights. It quickly becomes a chaotic scene full of comedic fun — it’s episode five of Life of Kea, a hit online series that has put its maker on the map.

If you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t yet discovered the very talented actor, producer and director Lyanna Kea for yourself, let us introduce you — she’s an award-winning YouTuber with a hugely successful channel that boasts 3.69 million subscribers and a growing fanbase.

We at SUPERSPACE have been big fans of Kea for a long time, and have watched her rapid rise to fame with keen interest. Her unique blend of observational comedy, witty writing and colourful visuals appeals to our audacious, dive-in-and-make-it-happen ethos.

So we were thrilled to see Kea in that candy pink karaoke room, because it’s an interior design project we’re very proud of. In 2018, we designed the fit out for Juke’s Karaoke at Crown Melbourne, where the episode was filmed. Billed as “Bringing a new beat to karaoke,” Juke’s has become an iconic entertainment venue that delivers bursts of colour in an immersive retro-themed setting, and it’s one of our favourite projects.

We identify with Kea, and feel a sense of symbiosis with her. We understand her journey. We’ve seen her take the seed of an idea and grow it into something uniquely memorable. We see how hard she works, and how she manages to shrug off challenges in her quest to create authentic content.

Our team strives to work closely with our collaborators to bring big ideas out of heads and into the world. We see possibility in the impossible, and believe can’t is a dirty word.
